The Art of Another

     Another is a short anime that has 12 episodes and is under the psychological, horror, mystery, thriller genre. It was adapted from Yukito Ayatsuji's mystery horror novel of the same name. It is about a boy named Kōichi Sakakibara who just transferred to the school Yomiyama Middle School and was placed in the class 3-3. There he met a girl named Mei Misaki which he finds to be mysterious because nobody in their class seems to see or to know a student of that name even though he sees her in their class. After meeting her, one by one, the students or the people related to the student of class 3-3 begun to face gruesome, horrible and senseless deaths from different events and strange accidents.
     Then he learned about a certain story from the past. The story is about student who was popular and beloved by all, both by teachers and by students, named Misaki during 1972. In the story, Misaki suddenly died partway through the school year. Shocked and devastated by Misaki's sudden death, the teachers and the students treated the class as if Misaki is still in there with them. They keep the act that Misaki was still alive up until the graduation.The principal even arranged to have Misaki's seat included in the graduation ceremony leading to a strange presence appearing in the graduation photo.

Recommendation
     If you're a fan of gruesome, horror and thriller genre of anime, this one is just right for you. Another contains gruesome and thrilling scenes that would make you feel terrified and scared for the characters. The anime starts in the psychological and mystery genre and during the middle until the end it turns into a thriller, horror and full of bloodshed type of anime.
     If you're a fan of  psychological and mystery genre of anime, I think you would enjoy the first few episodes of this anime but later as the story progress the mystery in the plot would slowly fade and it would turn into a horror and thriller type of anime.
     If you're a fan of both horror thriller and psychological mystery then this one is exactly right for your. You could enjoy the mystery and the psychological twist of the plot as it turns into a gruesome horror thriller anime.

Review on the art of the short anime
     The anime being short has its ups and downfalls. The ups in the art of this anime is the way they present the first part of story. One by one they build the mystery of the plot, and they presented it is very artistic in an interesting and cinematic way. It's like watching a long horror movie and not an anime.
     The downfall in the anime begun after they revealed the mystery. The revelation of the mystery is not a disappointment but it makes the flow of the anime very convenient especially to the creators of the anime. Because the mystery is already revealed, the excitement of finding out what comes next suddenly disappears. It turns into a how would they end it kind of way. The transition from horror to gruesome action is great  idea but the presentation in the second half of the anime is not that great.
     The ending of the short anime is just like the ending of most short anime. It has the feeling of wishing for another season but the disappointment is not because the ending is so good. The anime ends as if it really didn't end. The ending was a little bit of a disappointment and you would wish for a second season because it doesn't end right. You would get the feeling of, I think there is a better way to end it and not just like that. But if you think of it deeply it is the best ending to end the story. It really confuses you to the point of asking which feeling must you feel.
     Overall the anime is good and I think its concept would be great for a movie or for a longer anime.
